Absolutely no contest, loved the earlier Phoebe, especially Series 2 when Gary returns to find her a bit harder to win over. Liz' portrayal was a lot funnier, but Dervla's felt more authentic.

I also prefered Dervla, for me she was more attractive, could play the character as hard as naiks but also with a softness and vulnerability underneath that I don't think Liz ever managed although I do think Liz did a good job.

I love them both, I agree with what has already been said about the actor and character transitions coming at a perfect time. I used to prefer Dervla but I have a lot of love for Liz especially in those nightclub scenes and with little Michael so it is impossible to choose!

Always preferred Phoebe Bamford, thought Dervla Kirwan played the roll very well

Phoebe Bamford for sure, cute, innocent, nearly, and the first. Why did she have to go and leave. Well yeah I know, I was just saying it retoriclly. Liz good in her own way but for me she couldn't replace Dervla When I saw her being all soppy with Gary in the underground, I just melt, like the chocy she was eating.
Whenever I try to imagine Liz, all I can picture is her face screwed up shouting. " Wot? To thick to wipe my own arse!!" Kinda leaves me wanting more of Dervla.

That was a great episode in the Underground. The spiv was played by Peter Cellier who has also been in Keeping Up Appearances as the Major. One day I was watching an old black and white film made way back 30's or 40's and for a moment I thought it was Peter. Turned out to be his father.

Thanks, and yes likewise, its nice to finally bump in to someone. I've been lucky enough to see this out from the start. Me and the wife as she was back then saw a promo for the show and we both thought, wow that looks good, and I've been hooked ever since.
To top it off last week I finally made it to Ezra street. I don't know why its taken me so long, especially as I live not to far, but hay I have now and I'll probably return there soon as it was such a buzz.

Early phoebe 100% Dervla played that role perfectly and in fact she was more believable. Granted we experienced the time travel with gary and it was raw at the time but she seemed to make that experience all more real.
