Thanks a lot!
I'll look into linking the two together in the morning. It's nearly bedtime this side of the world!

Welcome ibindere The captcha technology used by Proboards is much more sophisticated than that used by Forumsland, where the current (and possibly soon-to-be-old) forums are hosted. So, we shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Indeed! Also I am sure that we'll be watching it quite closely and removing anything that sneaks through!

Ok, I've put the redirect on. So if someone types goodnightsweetheart.net they now come to the front page of this forum. At that point the proboards url takes over, but it's a good start. I'm not sure how one would keep the goodnight sweetheart URL visible at all times. In any case, hopefully having them linked will get us some google juice when people search for 'Goodnight Sweetheart'.

Excellent work, jobsta. If nothing gets resolved with the old forums (and at this rate, I suspect it won't), we can start advertising on there as well.

Any chance of migrating some of the old threads/topics across? Or do we have to start all over again?
Has anyone heard from Stan or Ron?

Any chance of migrating some of the old threads/topics across? Or do we have to start all over again? Has anyone heard from Stan or Ron? Unfortunately, because they're two different services, there's no way we can migrate any of the old Forumsland threads. Everything has to start over from scratch. And no, I still haven't heard anything back from Stan or Ron. If I haven't heard anything by the end of the week, I may just start advertising this forum over there to get as many of the regulars as possible before people just stop going altogether.

Good idea mate.
Are we able to upload photos on here? Or have an avatar?

Good idea mate. Are we able to upload photos on here? Or have an avatar? Yes, both avatars and signatures are available. Just go to your profile, click on "Modify Profile", and all the options should be available to you. There is also an option to upload photos. Look underneath the subject line when you create a post or reply to one and the option should be there. Maximum size for attachments is 1,024.0 KB.

I think a good idea will be to post a sticky up the top of this forum just explaining its origins and the like. That way people will have a context that there was an earlier forum if they would like to refer back to it.
There is probably no need to do that until we decide to make the final jump over to this forum though.
Also once we decide to move over, we can start a bunch of topics that existed on the old forum, perhaps all of the more popular topics, and then post a link on the old forum at the end of the relative topic. That way if people do discover the old forum first there is no way that they could miss that we have moved.

Good idea, jobsta. I'll keep all that in mind in the event this switch becomes permanent.

Welcome indeed Terry! I think come the morning I'll start adding some topics to these boards so we can get some GS related discussions going.

Good idea, jobsta. Meanwhile, I'm just going to go ahead and sticky this topic as our official "introductions" thread.

So, we shouldn't have anything to worry about.I'll say , this one will be so much better for keeping those spam bots out, some of the boards like Forumsland and older phpBB boards just simply have not caught up with the need for bot proof Captcha.
