Hello Everyone. I had given up trying to find a forum on GS since the Duckett's Passage site only directs one to a page that only has spam messages. But, fortunately I had another search this morning, as I thought there would be someone out there who might be interested in what I intend to do. No other book, play, nor tv series has captured my attention and enthusiasm as has GS. I rarely read fiction anymore as I always know the plot before I'm half way through. That is the attraction of GS, there are so many possibilities and let's face it time travel has always been a great theme, simply because it sounds unlikely but when you figure out what life is all about then you realise that it is possible and we can all do it. I would really like to get back to the early 1940's. Looking back I don't think I made the most of it at the time. Greatest tragedy then was when Auntie Bella disposed of my most precious tin of shrapnel. Took a long time to collect it, having to go out early next morning after a raid and hunt in the long grass and bushes down by the Yeading Brook. It would be tempting to tell Mum and Dad that we wouldn't be hit in any raid, and that the worst would be one cracked window from a V2 rocket, despite being only some 12 miles from the centre of London. But that would have a devastating effect. They wouldn't have sent me up to Consett in 1943 and I wouldn't have got to know my second family so well. It would have changed my whole life. Anyway my news is that not being content to wait for a new series, the BBC have most likely forgotten all about it. So nothing for it. I'll have to write it myself. This is the only way to find out what really happened to Gary, Phoebe, Ron, Yvonne and Reg. It is already forming well in my mind, though once started I know that there will be times when I will have to be shown what comes next. That is what happened when I wrote The Tutankhamen Code (not published yet though one publisher told me how good it was before they asked for a lot of money to professionally edit it). It was so exciting having to wait until the next morning to know the next chapter or section, and that inevitably came in the early hours when waking up. I have already had a sign telling me to go ahead. When watching Series 1, Episode 2 once again, Gary decides to call a radio station and tell them what happened. The number they give to dial, is 071 303 3303. That is a very strong signal. Normally I only get a straight '33'. This has been going on for more than 20 years and sometimes many times a day and night. There were also some very weird events when I was writing The Tut Code. At least twice the scene I had just written up appeared elsewhere. First time it was within a couple of hours. The character I had made to look foolish was in the paper that I hadn't even opened, replete in the very same outlandish clothes. The second time, the scene in a mountainous Egyptian Wadi appeared the next day in a tv show that was set in Ethiopian mountains. Just think. How many times have you been unable to recall a word, then when that moment is completely forgotten and often the next day, it just flashes into your mind, no matter what you were thinking of at the time. Many inventors say their inspiration came from they know not where. However it is easy to work out the very first opening shot in a new series, as it would have to be connected to where we left off. Where we go from there will be startling and funny. About myself. Coming up to 79 in a few days and now living in Melbourne, OZ. Born in Consett where Rowan Atkinson was born, but mainly raised in Pinner - before Elton John's time. Went to school in Harrow -no not that one, another. Served three years in the RAF, two of them in Aden with leave in Kenya and Eritrea. Married three times, first lasted over 30 years and L was from Izmir Turkey of a Levantine family, so French essential along with Turkish and Greek. Had to learn Ancient Egyptian for the Tut Code and to get to the bottom of the truth about the original Egyptian Iosa - Jesus. Iesous in Greek but still Iosa in Gaelic which I've also studied. Twt by the way is Dwd in Hebrew which is David. Best years were with Ede when we lived in Cairns - for some 8 years. Cairns is Paradise so have been there already. As mentioned my writing is for my own satisfaction and inquisitiveness, but if others are interested I shall share what comes up.

I was only 6 years old when the war began so never really got up to the East End at that time - we were 12 miles the other side of the City, but I do know what it was like during the raids.

Not sure how active this forum is, but here goes ...
I can't remember when I first saw GS - I just caught an episode on TV. It was definitely after the first episode, but before the female actresses switched over. I obviously enjoyed it because I kept watching.
When the repeats came on, I started watching again but, again, missed the very first episode. I remember being frustrated with having no idea how Gary had stumbled into Ducketts Passage.
So I bought the boxed set and watched the whole series. Since then, I've watched the series at least twice more. I'll admit I have a love-hate relationship with it - Gary really gets on my nerves at times, and without the interest generated by Reg and Ron I might give up at times.
The reason I joined this forum is that I have started again. The Youtube clips are great to be able to watch a short segment on the iPad in bed. Sure, quality is not crash hot but I know the show now.
One other thing... I have been lucky enough to get to the UK every year for a while now. Whenever I go, I stay with my cousin in London. He's a big fan of the same shows as me (mostly British comedy) and each time we visit one or more of the settings for GS. I've got a few photos if anyone is interested.
That's it!

Ah, an essential piece of information I left out...
My visits have been from Geneva, but I am actually from Australia. I've been lucky enough to score some contracts with a UN agency every year or two - I'm going over in May for another 2 years.
I'm originally from Wimbledon, but my parents made the decision to move to Australia when I was 5 - great move, the other choices were Hong Kong or Canada!
With an English mum and a Sri Lankan dad (who was very much the proper English gentleman), we grew up on a diet of British TV shows. It's where I got my appreciation for fine word play from, as opposed to outright slapstick and telegraphed punchlines I associate with US TV.
I tried to pass this on to my kids - mostly succeeded although a few US shows have intruded into their viewing habits!

I check in every so often but the admins seem to be MIA - this forum was at one time linked to a GNS domain but that seems to have expired

This forum is dead so I won't bother joining, sorry. It looks like people have more exciting things to do than hang around this graveyard of a forum.

Posts like this really get my goat - you may as well walk deep into the woods and say out loud - there is no one around here so I won't be joining your social club.
