If Michelle and Dervla had not left, how different does everyone think series 4-6 would have been

I don't think Phoebe would've been a singer, and I can't see Michelle's Yvonne becoming a millionairess, either. I've always been curious as to how the original girls may have interacted in "When Two Worlds Collide", though

Michelle and Dervla meeting in the shop in 'when two worlds collide'... now that would be fun. Also Dervla in the Noel Coward scenes and in the butchers shop... you could go on forever.

I've always been curious as to how the original girls may have interacted in "When Two Worlds Collide", though I've always thought the same. It was only due to Liz Carling's background as a singer that Phoebe became a singer. I doubt Phoebe would have progressed furthur from a mother raising her child during wartime if Dervla Kirwan had remained unless they had attempted to revive Gary's career as a singer - songwriter, when he toured local halls. She was determined to make sure Gary got a good deal so she could have become a manager. As for Yvonne, she gained a degree in psychology in season one yet its never brought to relevence. It may have been more realistic for her character to have become a psychologist.

I see Yvonne not losing the baby and becoming a stay at home mum. She would mellow and in a sense become more like Phoebe. This of course would put more pressure on Gary to support the family from the shop, meaning it would put a strain on his relationship with Phoebe. Could have been interesting!
