I have just noticed something quite odd, though I should be used to such coincidences by now.
Psychic Private Eyes with Tony Stockwell, Colin Fry and TJ Higgs - the Alfred Charles Bennet Case - went to air circa 2006/7
In Tony's reading he says he can hear a song, 'The Boy up in the Balcony'. Alfred's grandson confirms that he knows the song.
However what is strange is that in Goodnight Sweetheart Series 6 Episode 5, Emma Amos as Yvonne and Marie sings The Boy I Love Is Up In The Gallery in the Music Hall piece which takes place in the ROYAL OAK, in 1888.
That is the very same pub which TJ Higgs meets Alfred's grandson to discuss her findings. I have checked the photos on the Goodnight Sweetheart episode against the shot of the Royal Oak in the Alfred Bennet case and the small murals beside the door show that it is the very same pub.
We are told that the Royal Oak is chosen as it is in the same area that Alfred grew up in, i.e. Vallance Road off Whitechapel Road, Bethnal Green (close to Stepney) and this is of course the same area as Royal Oak Goodnight Sweetheart is set in.
I can't help wondering if Tony watched the Goodnight Sweetheart episode and the song was in his memory, however that wouldn't explain how TJ decided on the Royal Oak for her meeting with Alfred's grandson, unless the director decided - perhaps Terry might know?
The other thing is that most memories that came through were all to do with the horror of War and Goodnight Sweetheart highlighted that with the Royal Oak.
Have booked in at the Clover Cottage for a dinner with Tony on 20th March so may get a chance to question him more.
