I've just been watching "A Room with a View", Episode 1 of Series 5. It's a great episode!
I was wondering whether people think Yvonne's success is realistic. At the end of series 4 she revealed that Clive had 'done a runner' with all of their money. Yet in series 5 she is a millionaire, again with the help of Clive. Would you go into business with someone again, who clearly tried to rip you off,
Also I noticed that Ron says his mother had called him fat, yet in "The Yanks Are Coming" (Series 3, Episode Ep9) Ron says he wants Gary to get old jeep parts so he can finish restoring a WWII jeep for his brother, as a thank you for raising him after his parents had died.
That's something that only a geek like me would notice, but still an interesting slip!

Yeah, the continuity issue with Yvonne's success is the only real glaring one in the entire series. There's no real explanation for it other than the writers suddenly deciding to go in another direction after the last episode of Series 4 had aired. As a fan, it's just one of those things you have to do your best to overlook.

No, you just have to go with the reasoning of the writer on the day. There are enough laughs along the way to distract you from digging too deeply.
Well that's my geeky excuse.. ;-)

Hehe, I don't think I, or anyone, would notice these things watching them week to week. I guess it is a symptom of watching episode after episode. I think i'd watched 10+ on the day of the original post! Lol!

So it is realistic that Yvonne managed to change her fortunes even though we are not given a full explanation.

Hehe, I sense I'm outvoted in my dislike of this jump! Heh, not entirely. Even in the span of a year, I find it highly unrealistic that Yvonne went from being completely broke to a millionaress with a flourishing business.

This was the time of a new Labour government whereby anything was possible; girl-power ruled the roost, and Yvonne Sparrow also found herself at the top of her game. The perfect foil to her supposedly misogynistic husband.. * irony rule being heavily implemented here * Either way the newer Yvonne was right back in the game, just as before.

I don't think we ever find out how old Ron was when he became orphaned.
