One year ago today, on January 13th, 2011, a random Google search for "time travel sitcom" lead me to discovering (and watching) Goodnight Sweetheart for the very first time. Watching Rites of Passage was supposed to be for the novelty of it. I didn't think a time travel-based sitcom could possibly work. One year later, however, and I've seen all 58 episodes more times than I can count. Not to mention, I have also ended up as the administrator of this fine community. Frankly, it's so difficult for me to believe it's a been a year already that I feel as though I've stumbled through a time portal of my own

Hehe, time does seem to move by pretty fast these days!!
I suspect that whilst Goodnight Sweetheart will probably never be mentioned in the all time greats of UK sitcoms (unfortunately), it will continue to tick over with an ongoing and loyal fan base. Time travel will always be of interest to an eclectic group of people and GS is a gem of the genre.
Glad you found it jrichard88!

Frankly, it's so difficult for me to believe it's a been a year already that I feel as though I've stumbled through a time portal of my own I know exactly what you mean about feeling like you've gone through a time portal, it seems like only yesterday that I saw it when it was first broadcast on TV and this is going way back to the early 90's, before seeing GS it was a time when I thought TV had first began to lose it and also, sadly, I had just lost my dear mother so I was low in spirits to be perfectly frank, despite that, Goodnight Sweetheart grabbed my interest right from the off. I've always had a fascination in the concept of time travel so anything with that theme in it is always of interest to me, it's the first time that I ever saw a time travel series in the form of a comedy mind, this is something else that made it unique but it worked nevertheless, just as you say. My elder brother whom also unfortunately passed away some years later loved the show too, he was a huge fan of Only Fools & Horses as well which also starred Nicholas Lyndhurst of course, things certainly have moved on since the 80's and 90's but GS stands strong to this day, the DVD collection is just sheer magic to watch .

I've been holding myself back from watching any repeats that crop up on sky(its been a while going cold turkey now) so I can watch my box set from the beginning again in a few months !
