Hi folks,
I am going to start a Goodnight Sweetheart podcast. This is my idea. There will be 58 episodes of this podcast, one for every episode of the show. I'll watch the episode prior to the podcast and then discuss the episode in the show. It will be more than that though. Discussion of the war itself through issues raised in the show, the culture of the time (both the 40's and the 90's), musical connections. All of that stuff.
Would anyone be interested in joining me. Either for all or occasional episodes. At this stage I haven't decided whether I will record them in rapid fire and then just release them over the 58 weeks or actually record them over the year also.
Just floating for ideas at the moment.

That sounds like a fascinating idea there, jobsta. I'd be happy to co-host some episodes with you. I've never done a podcast before, so I'm not quite sure how we'd arrange it with our wildly different time zones, but I'm all for it

Great!
I've done a few podcasts in my time so am pretty familiar with the mechanics of it. Essentially we'd work through a show rundown depending on the episode/s via email. We'd then do a Skype conversation between us (and anyone else who wishes to participate) which I would record.
As for the time difference, I am Mr Nocturnal so could fit into everyone else's schedule.

Yeah, poddy's are great fun to go along with; Skype's even better with the right amount of participants.

Would maybe be nice to do it with the cooperation of forum members. Say post that you are going to be watching episode X on xth of x and will be recording the podcast on the yth of X and if forum members would like to email in questions or thoughts on the episode after maybe watching it themselves at the same time they could be included, also maybe a competition question each week ? Or even sound bites sent in ?

Folks, I'm in the process of organising this (finally). I'm after some ideas as to what people want to listen to. Do you want primarily synopsis based stuff. Or would you prefer cultural stuff based on the episode.

I think an even mix of both would be nice. A brief plot rundown, episode highlights, guest stars, and maybe some fun facts about the historical events being portrayed in each episode. You know, stuff like that

I had an idea for this today. Many, if not the vast majority of the episode titles were based on popular songs from the 1940s. How about a short segment where we briefly discuss the song (the year, the composers, etc) and play it for the listener?

Any progress on this idea? The 1940 songs is a very good idea. Looks like you can find most on youtube, though as already mentioned I have most of them on CD's. I suppose I'm biased since we all sang them when they were the hit of the day. Many are still played, especially Al Bowly, but its funny we never hear much of Carmen Miranda today. She was famous for her tropical fruit salad hat which towered above her head. I have a couple of her recordings and can remember my cousin Ken singing K'K'K'Katie all the time. Carmen - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERYKzez97lA Just got a shock. KKKKatie goes back to 1918 - www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_J9kPQ8hwA&feature=related Well it was still popular in the 1940's and Carmen Miranda was one who sang it.
